ごくありふれた写真や文章ばかりですが、小さな感動をわかちあっていただけたら幸いです。
講義のパワーポイントは、まだ興味を持っていただける方もおられることと思い、退職後も掲載し続けることとします。
My photos may be common and trivial, but I would be happy if I can share my small surprise with the visitors of my homepage.
Powerpoint files of my lectures might not be useful after my retirement, but I expect there are still someone who will be interested in these articles.

Self introduction a little more in detail
Born in Okazaki city, Aichi prefecture in central Japan ca 72 years ago.
I lived in Okazaki city and was educated at "Atago" elementary school, "Aoi" middle school, and "Okazaki" high school.
Stayed there until high school age,
Then, I studied at Nagoya University in Nagoya from 1970 to 1974.
My speciality was Soil Science, Agricultural Chemistry, at the Faculty of Agriculture.
Finished PhD in the graduate school of Nagoya University in 1979.
Married to Ms. Kazumi Fujii in October, 1980 (Wedding ceremony was held in February, 1981), who was born in the same city as mine and also studied at Okazaki high school and at the Faculty of Agriculture of Nagoya University. We were educated by the common teachers and professors in the high school and the university.
Experienced post-doctoral fellowships in Nagoya University, IRRI Philippines, and Hamburg University in Germany from 1979 to 1984 for 5 years and 8 months in total. My daughter and the first son were born during my post-doctoral age.
After 6 years of teaching career as a research assistant in Nagoya University, I moved to Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine as an associate professor in 1991.
I promoted to professor in 2002 and retired from the university in March 2015 at the age of 63, and was awarded the title of professor emeritus in April, 2015.
After the retirement, I continued teaching at the university for two more years as a re-employed professor.
This extended employment period finished in March, 2017, and became completely free.
Even after the final retirement, I continued teaching soil science and field practice for junior course students as a part time lecturer. However, these lecture and practice have been discontinued in 2020 due to the revision of the curriculum of junior course. Since 2020, I am teaching also "Basic Chemistry" for freshmen students as a part time lecturer.
In 2019 and 2020, I conducted the lecture and practice in "Soil Science and Climate Change" each for two weeks between February and March at Yezin Agricultural University as an expert of Soil Science dispatched by JICA.
It is seriously sad that this Myanmar-Japan co-operation program itself has been discontinued due to the coup de'tat by the Myanmar army in February, 2021. Many of my students and coordinators have been dismissed from the YAU university, because they stood for democracy and protested against the military regime..
Not good at sports, but learned tennis playing and skiing here in Obihiro.
I also enjoy mini-volley ball with the staff members of my university.
Due to the COVID-19, mini-volley ball circle had been suspended since March, 2020, but started again in May, 2023.
Enjoy growing flowers, vegetables and fruits in the garden at home.
Since 2017, I joined a volunteer citizen circle in Obihiro, "Ezorisu no kai (Hokkaido Squirrel Group)", which has a purpose of raising up the forest of Obihiro and surveying the living things (squirrels, birds, frogs, butterflies, trees, grasses and flowers) periodically.
Music was also my hobby when I was young, but I can not play any instrument well.
I was a member of mixed chorus group while I was a university student,
and therefore, I like to sing various songs, songs "Lieder" of Schubert, Japanese traditional folk songs and etc.
I am a father of three children, one daughter and two sons.
They are already grown up and working far from home.
They are all married, and have their own children now.
Therefore, I am a grandfather of five grandchildren.
I have foreign friends in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Germany, Myanmar and many other countries
through my post-doctoral career, my research works in the foreign countries, and my service in JICA trainings.

This cartoon picture was drawn by one of my students in 1991.
This picture shows the members of soil science laboratory in my university.
The lady student who drew this picture is also shown in the lower right corner.
In the year, 1991, I joined this laboratory, moving from Nagoya to Obihiro.
I brought my wife and three children. In this picture, my family is also included.
It is funny that my kids are taking the same pose as mine.
